Tuition Fees for Postgraduate Study home
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) applicants
The New Zealand Government has approved a Policy for new international student PhD applicants, which offers international students the same level of tuition fees as those paid by New Zealand domestic students.
This Policy relates to international students enrolling for the first time in a PhD degree at a New Zealand University from 1 January 2006. Massey staff and Doctoral (PhD) students should note, where appropriate, the following:
- Students enrolling from 1 January 2006 for the first time will pay domestic tuition fees for the duration of their studies, subject to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) funding regulations.
- Students enrolling on, or after 19 April 2005 and prior to 1 January 2006 for the first time are required to pay international tuition fees up to the anniversary of their Provisional Registration date in 2006, and thereafter will pay domestic tuition fees for the duration of their studies, subject to the TEC funding regulations.
- Students enrolled prior to 19 April 2005 will continue to pay international tuition fees for the duration of their studies, including those who subsequently withdraw and then re-enrol, or who transfer from one New Zealand University to another.
- Students enrolled or enrolling in Named Doctoral degrees (including Doctor of Business and Administration (DBA), Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) and Doctor of Education (EdD)) will continue to pay international tuition fees.
- Eligibility for the domestic tuition fee status requires Doctoral students to be domiciled in New Zealand for the duration of their candidature, as per the TEC regulations.
